November 12, 2004: Library Marketing and Programming
Libraries provide enormous sales opportunities for book publishers as well as being fantastic gathering spots for readings and events.   Our guests have extensive experience on all sides of this market including buying general adult fiction and nonfiction, childrens' titles, art and architecture, and more.  Speakers provided practical information to help you increase the business you do with academic and public libraries. Programming at the San Francisco Main Library  (and its branches), within the San Mateo County Library System, and at the Mechanics Library in San Francisco were discussed as well.

We were happy to welcome the following guests to speak on the topic:
Laura Lent, Adult Collections Coordinator for the San Francisco Public Library;
Joan Jasper, Curator of Adult Public Programs at the San Francisco Public Library;
D. Vanessa Kam, Associate Art Librarian of the Art and Architecture Library at Stanford University;
Jeanine Asche, Youth, Family and Literacy Services Manager for the San Mateo County Library;
and Laura Sheppard, Director of Events, Mechanics' Institute Library, San Francisco.
